Description:
La Folie comprises a good size kitchen dining room with large farmhouse table and wood burning open fire. The downstairs living room has access through French windows to a patio area and the rest of the garden.
Upstairs is a snug with a comfy leather settee, TV/Video, books and games. A short landing leads to the bathroom and on to the bedrooms. The main tie-beam has been left in place - see pictures. Bedroom 1 has an antique French 3/4 double bed, Velux window and clothes hanging and storage area. Bedroom 2 has a full double bed and storage, an antique French washstand and shelving around. Plenty of clothes storage/hanging is available in the bathroom and other bedroom.
07/02/07 Addition of an antique French daybed sleeping 1 small person in the upstairs snug adds another sleeping place. Also the addition of the 2 very large feather cushion settees mean that an extra person can occasionally be accommodated.
Cleaning
The cottage is cleaned between lets, meaning that you need to do when you arrive is unpack, open a bottle and explore. There is no extra charge for this service unless extra heavy cleaning is required after you leave, or you do not leave the property and it's contents as you find them.
This house is in a rural location and the people around you may often be earning their living. Country hours can start early but usually end early. So please be patient when it comes to the sounds and scents - it's all part of being in the country!
Features:
The house has been renovated from a near derelict state, having been uninhabited for several years, and then only the two ground floor rooms were inhabited, with the upper floor being accessible only from the barn and used for storage of walnuts and hay. All the original features have been kept where possible.
Outside:
French windows lead onto a paved patio area, beyond which is a gravelled parking area with screening shrubs in between. A path leads left to a larger garden area with a lean-to (G&T corner), shrubs and a gravelled/lawned area, creating a qioet relaxing area with table and chairs and barbeque.
Rooms:
Kitchen/dining room, living room, snug (daybed & settee), 2 bedrooms, bathroom. The barn can be used for storage of bikes etc. if needed.
Equipment/facilities:
Electric cooker, microwave, freezer, Panini maker, CD player with MP3 cable, TV/Video, (x2) washing machine, Dyson, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, etc plus a selection of videos & books. For your own music, please take your own CDs and/or an iPod/mp3 player and connect it to the CD player with the lead provided.
